OEE / IOT / Industry 4.0
OEE- Overall Equipment Effectiveness
OEE is an abbreviation for the manufacturing metric Overall Equipment Effectiveness. OEE takes into account the various sub components of the manufacturing process – Availability, Performance and Quality. After the various factors are taken into account the result is expressed as a percentage.
OEE is a universally accepted method for measuring the improvement potential of a production process – with one simple number. Measuring makes it easier to improve, and improving productivity (by eliminating waste) is the core objective of Lean Manufacturing.
Key Feature of Energy Management System:
• To improve plant performance you need to have real-time visibility into your operational efficiency KPIs.
• OEE is a KPI used to measure and monitor the effectiveness of Production line or a particular Equipment. It identifies the percentage of manufacturing time that is truly productive.
• A good OEE percentage means the production is of good quality with high performance and less stop time. The rate of Quality Rejects and the losses that occur due to speed, small stops, Idling or equipment failure can be determined so that manufacturing Process can be systematically improved.
IoT - Internet of Things
In the context of the fourth industrial revolution, dubbed Industry 4.0, the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) brings together machines and processes, advanced analytics and people to monitor, collect, exchange, and analyze real-time sensor data to deliver meaningful insights.
The Internet of Things (IoT) is the network of physical devices, vehicles, home appliances and other items embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuators, and connectivity which enables these things to connect and exchange data, creating opportunities for more direct integration of the physical world into Plants.
The unique value of this data is that it reveals important consumer insights in the context of real-time situations. Leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and automation, IoT can also make tasks easy for consumers and provides them with an experience tailor-made to their life. This promises to transform how customers interact with companies and build a new paradigm for customer relationships.
